SPECIALIZED COMMUNITY OUTREACH Social marketing is the cornerstone of a majority of our programs. Our ability to work with an existing network of hundreds of community based organizations throughout the State of California and the nation has enabled us to deliver services to thousands of people who are under-served or hard to reach. California Department of Health Services Managed Care Program The State of California implemented a program to provide managed health care for Medi-Cal beneficiaries. RHA reviewed, condensed and redesigned existing materials to the beneficiaries. RHA translated the materials into eleven languages and focus tested the translated versions as well. New scripts were developed for facilitators to use while educating groups through the process of making a choice of available insurance plans. Healthy Families and Medi-Cal for Children Healthy Families is California subsidized medical, dental and vision coverage offered to children from birth through age 18. With contract deliverables to include both oversight of community outreach and Program education, RHA has provided state-wide training sessions, has secured the involvement of thousands of organizations and trained several thousand Application Assistants. These organizations and applicant assistants in turn help eligible families in filling out the application to enroll in this Program. Lead Awareness and Certification Training RHA developed an Awareness and Certification Training model that addressed the concerns of environmental justice and sustainable community jobs. This project was accomplished by a partnership of public and private organizations to provide accredited training by RHA and certified Lead Abatement Workers. RHA also provided information resources to engage community leaders and activists to become aware of lead health issues in their communities. Electronic Data Systems (EDS) Healthy Families and Medi-Cal for Children Application Prior to the State of California's implementation of the Healthy Families Medi-Cal for Children program, RHA was under contract to develop the application and handbook for enrollment of eligible families. This process involved oversight in the development of the application questions and the accompanying handbook, design, focus testing and final printing of the program materials. BACK
